Studio Jams: Ashley Monroe

I heard Ashley Monroe sing on NPR’s Fresh Air this week and was instantly entranced by the lyrics of her title track Like A Rose, as well as her voice – which Fresh Air’s Ken Tucker described as a “loftily pitched nasal twang that regularly luxuriates into a warm croon.” A perfect description, she harkens back to a bygone era of folk and country music that seems to soothe the soul. I think she’ll definitely be in high rotation in the studio for a while.
